William John Kempa, 81, retired plumber and Navy veteran, died of natural causes at Teton Medical Center, Choteau, Montana on December 29, 2012. At his request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
He was born January 30, 1931 in Great Falls, Montana to John and Angelina Kempa. Bill attended Great Falls public schools, graduating from GFHS in 1948. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served on the aircraft carrier the FDR as a machinist. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he served a plumbing apprenticeship and worked as a licensed plumber for over 40 years. Bill retired in 1993 to more golfing, reading, watching TV, and began bowling; which became his favorite pasttime. At age 80, he decided to take up fiddling, took lessons, and thoroughly enjoyed that.
His first wife, Dorothea Kommers Kempa, passed away in 1963, leaving him with their four children, Chania, Pamela, Jeff, and Marianne. Bill married Sandra Spears in 1967 and she helped him raise the children. Bill and Sandy enjoyed 45 1/2 years of marriage, their family, traveling and hobbies. Now, Bill is peacefully with his deceased family members, pets and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters Pamela (Jay) Stephens of Billings; and Marianne (Bob) Gliko of Monarch; son Jeff of Great Falls; brothers Stanley and Dan of Great Falls; sister Dorothy Phillippe of Great Falls; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Angelina Kempa; first wife Dorothea; brothers: baby Bernard, George, Bernie, and Frankie; sisters Helen and Rosie; and daughter Chani McMillan.
