Virginia Redding

October 12, 1940 — March 6, 2025

Virginia (Ginger) Williams Redding, 84, of Fairfield, Montana, peacefully passed away on March 6, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Ginger was born on October 12, 1940, in Hardin, Montana and raised on the family farm in North Valley. She graduated from Hardin High School in 1958. She was working as a telephone operator in Hardin in 1959 when she met Tom, the love of her life, at the Sheridan, Wyoming rodeo. They were married on August 10, 1960, in Miles City, Montana. After working around the State performing construction work and truck driving, in 1974, they settled their family on the Fairfield Bench with their three children.

Mom always had a large garden and beautiful flowers. Her raspberry patch was always open to anyone that had a bucket. Her cookie jar was always full. She would often help Tom drive truck and in her spare time she loved genealogy. You could always find Mom working at the Genealogy Library in Choteau on Wednesdays. She found such joy helping others find their roots. She loved making crafts.

Mom loved being a visiting teacher. It was very important to her to do the Lord's work in a way that she could contribute. She enjoyed every companion sister that she served with.

Mom was very dedicated to her husband, Tom, to raising their family. Dad said: she is a good wife, mother, gardener, and truck driver. Mom and Dad were very proud of their grandchildren and loved going to every sporting event they were involved with.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Tom, of Fairfield; children Larry (Suzy) Redding of Great Falls, Carol Jackson of Great Falls, and Joleen Redding of Billings, brother John (Carol) Williams of Meridian, Idaho, three awesome grandchildren Jenell Jackson, Whitney (Calvin) Gibbons, and Tyler Redding of Great Falls, and five adorable great-grandchildren Charlotte, Virginia, Chloe, Knox, and Bradley.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, March 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the LDS Church in Fairfield. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the LDS Church in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Big Horn County Historical Society, Hardin, Montana or the Great Falls Genealogy Society, www.gfgenealogy.org.
