Teresa McCrossin

June 2, 1953 — July 14, 2021

Teresa Loys (Richter) McCrossin

Teresa Loys McCrossin was born in Choteau, MT on June 2nd, 1953, to Marvin and Eloyse Harrington. She joined her older brother David, who was 2 years old. Three more siblings joined the family and the kids enjoyed swimming in the river, participating in 4-H and FHA. The family followed Marvin and Dave to many rodeos, as they grew up in Donivan Park right outside of Great Falls and the Fairfield bench area. Teresa enjoyed cooking and was proud to win a beef cookoff with her sweet and sour meatballs in a cooking contest. She graduated from Simms High School in 1971.

Teresa met a young man named Brion Richter and the two hit it off, enjoying many Drive-in movies, hunting and fishing trips together. They fell in love and were married in Fort Shaw, MT on October 15, 1971, with family and friends present. The couple got their start in Fort Shaw by welcoming their 1st child Leighann. They then moved to the Lewistown area to work on a ranch, where they were blessed with two more children Tracy and Marcus. Teresa worked hard on the ranch supporting the crews with homemade meals and taking care of the gardens and animals. In 1989 Brion and Teresa moved to Harlowton to try their hand at entrepreneurship by purchasing the Harlowton cleaners. Unfortunately, in 1993, Brion's life was cut short after a battle with cancer.

Teresa returned to pursue her education, studying science and earning her Associates degree. She moved to Fairfield for work, where in 2009 she met and married Leon (Larry) McCrossin. Teresa enjoyed helping him on his farm, raising pigs, calves and other animals. Teresa had a green thumb and always enjoyed raising the best tomatoes around.

It gave Teresa such joy to share her love of cooking and sewing with all who knew her. She also loved creating crafts, especially for Christmas, and gifting them to friends and family. Teresa was known for her creativity in finding and repurposing items, once making a wall decoration from an old light. She never passed up a yard sale or listening to a game on the radio.

Teresa was diagnosed with lung cancer in September of 2020 and battled for almost a year before the disease and related health concerns took her life on July 14th, 2021. She was surrounded by her daughters and other family.

She is survived by her husband, Larry McCrossin, daughters: Leighann Wilson (Gerard) and Tracy Golik (Aaron) and son Marcus Richter; sisters Netter Harrington (Rory), Colette Trainor (Pat), brother Doug Harrington (Kyla), and Larry's daughters Leslie Zahn (Travis), Deanna Beatty (Roger), Jody Sorenson (Scott), and Teresa Mohn (Brian), and son Leon McCrossin. Grandchildren: Richard and Wyatt Miller, Matthew and Lucas Golik, and Zachary Richter and many bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Brion Craig Richter, brother Dave Harrington, and her parents.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life reception will be held on July 27 at 11:00 am at the Fairfield Community Center. Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Teresa's family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.gorderjensenfunderalhome.com
