Ronald Warren Otness
Long time Choteau, Montana, resident Ronald Warren Otness, age 90, passed away peacefully at the Spokane Veterans Home surrounded by his family on February 2, 2016. Ronald was born August 20, 1925 in Havre, Montana, to Joel B. and Lucille (Hitchcock) Otness. The family moved to the Farmington, MT, area in 1929. Ronald attended country school at East Farmington and graduated in 1943 from Teton High School, Choteau, Montana. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 during WWII primarily in the European theater. After the war, Ronald returned to the family farm and ranch in Farmington. In 1950 he married Patricia Janke and together they had three children. They were divorced in 1976. In 1980 Ronald married former classmate, Donna Faye Dauwalder Barrett. They were married 23 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Faye; grandchildren, Laurel Corbett, Jason Corbett, and Cy Morris. Survivors include brother, Lyle "Hoot" Otness of Choteau, MT; children, Wendy Dennis of Clarkston, WA, Darrel (Melody) Otness of Pasco, WA, Christie (Paul) Pierce of Valleyford, WA; step-children, Richard Barrett of Medford, OR, Conrad (Jeannie) Barrett of North Branch, MI, and Jerri (Randy) Morris of Choteau. Ronald is also survived by niece, Debbie Booth; nephews, Brent Otness and Barry Cloyd, and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service in Choteau will be held at the trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday February 18th at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bright Eyes Animal Shelter, P.O.
