Rodney Arensmeyer, of Choteau, passed away in Great Falls, MT on August 6th, 2016 from natural causes at the age of 58. Rod was born December 21st, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to Kay (Strauser) Arensmeyer. He attended Farmington Country School and Choteau High School. He graduated from Choteau High School in May 1976. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1976, shipped out to Basic Training in March 1977. He was stationed at Minot AFB and worked as Weapons Control System Mechanic. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in May 1981. After his discharge, Rod worked on a helicopter seismography crew in Wyoming and Utah. But he soon moved back to Montana. Rod moved to Bozeman where he briefly attended MSU and studied Computer Science. He then worked at Big Sky Ski Resort as a groomer operator and mechanic. He met Rose Frank while working at Big Sky and they were married on September 19th, 1986. They had a son, Joseph in 1989 and daughter, Samantha in 1992. They moved to East Helena in 1990. Rod worked at Helena Sand and Gravel as a truck driver, at Service Master as a plow truck driver and custodian, and at Auto Zone. He retired as a result of health complications. Rod will be remembered for his enormous heart and sense of humor. He was passionate about Ford trucks, riding motorcycles, spending time with family and friends, and his dog, Harley. He is survived by parents, Kay and Richard of Choteau; his wife, Rose of East Helena; son Joe(Angelica) East Helena; daughter, Samantha (Taj) of East Helena; grandchildren Tyson and Amynha; brother, Keith (Kay) Great Falls, sisters, Kathy (Carl) Newark, CA; Carla(Tommy) Stockett, MT; Keri(Kirk) East Helena; nephews, Ryan, Nathan, Kyler, and Kellan; and niece Morgan (Jake); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his childhood friend, Dean Brumburger of East Helena. Rod was preceded in death by father-in-law, Gabe Frank, grandparents, Mae and Adolph Arensmeyer, and Everett Strauser, and aunt, Candye Miller.
Gorder Jensen Funeral Home is handling his funeral arrangements. A viewing will be held Friday, August 19th at 7:00pm at Gorder Jensen Funeral Home. His funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 am at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Choteau. After his funeral mass, graveside services will be at Choteau Cemetery with military honors. A luncheon will be held at the Stage Stop Inn in the South Fork Room following the graveside service.
