Roberta Marie Mayson
CHOTEAU - Roberta Marie Mayson, 75, of Choteau, passed into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at Benefis East Hospital in Great Falls. She died from chronic respiratory issues following a recent surgery.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, Montana. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home of Choteau. Interment of ashes at Choteau Cemetery will take place immediately following the services. A celebration of life reception will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Roberta was born October 18, 1940 to Friis and Gertrude Hansen in Kenmare, North Dakota. After several family moves, she attended and graduated from Choteau High School in 1958.
In October 1960 she married Danny V. Mayson in Billings and moved to Choteau shortly thereafter. After moving to Choteau, she spent several years working as a cashier at Safeway and Choteau Food. She finished her work career at Ag Sales, Inc. in Choteau. During her work career, she also served as bookkeeper and helper for Dan's business, Choteau Tree Spraying Service.
Over the years, Roberta was a caring mother, daughter and friend comforting many folks both inside and outside the family. Her compassion was never so obvious as when her parents and husband were in their final moments. She enjoyed gardening, and taking the lead role in planning and organizing of the family's annual salmon fishing trek to Grays Harbor and Westport, Washington. She also enjoyed collecting Fenton ware and other antique collectables which she proudly displayed in the family home for all to enjoy.
Roberta is survived by stepdaughter Leta Haisler of Juneau, Alaska; stepson Michael Murphy of Wasilla, Alaska and son Kirt (Julie) Mayson of Butte; sister Dixie (Edwin) Gebhart of Power, Montana; brothers Robert Hansen of West Lynn, Oregon, Donald (Lauren) Hansen of Bynum, Montana, Ronald Hansen of Canby, Oregon, and David (LouAnn) Hansen of Lolo, Montana; step grandchildren Corey Murphy, Tiffany Murphy, Lucas DeRa, Dylan Haisler, and Cassidy Haisler all of Juneau, Alaska and Mariah Tomlinson of Lincoln, California; grandchildren Zachary Kelly and Madison Kelly of Alabama; step grandchildren Chelsey Durkin of Draper, Utah and Rachel Durkin of Butte; and granddaughter Tiffany Mayson also of Butte.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Friis and Gertrude Hansen of Choteau, Montana; husband Danny Mayson of Choteau; daughter Paulet Mayson-Barker of Madison, Alabama and infant son Kip.
