Choteau professional photographer Randy Hugh Williams, 61, died July 20, 2013, at his home in Choteau.
Randy was born March 1, 1952 in Dallas, TX, the son of Hugh and Esther (Silvers) Williams. Randy grew up in the Dallas, Texas, bought his first 35mm camera in 1970 and maintained his interest in photography as a hobby for 30 years while he took other career paths. He received a PhD from the University of Missouri.
After deciding to try photography as a career, he came to Missoula to attend intensive photography classes at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography during the summer of 2006 and moved to Choteau the summer of 2007.
He was attracted to the Rocky Mountain Front because of its abundant wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.
He opened Randy Williams Photography in Choteau in July of 2007 and specialized in rodeo, sports and nature photography.
An award winning and published photographer, Williams took first place in the 2007 Montana Wildlife Federations annual photo contest. His images were regularly published in "The Competitor News" and have been featured on the cover of the Udall Foundation 2009 Annual Report and "The Competitor News."
He was president of the Front Range Art Association and had been a contract photographer for the Choteau Public Schools.
He is survived by relatives out of state, including a sister, Suzanne Teel of Rockwall, TX and several cousins..
At his request, no funeral is planned. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home of Choteau.
