Paula (Jaud) Bouma
Paula Bouma, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on May 26, 2017 in Bozeman, Montana.
Paula was born February 22, 1936, in Schweinfurt Germany, to George and Ella Jaud. Paula's young years in Germany witnessed the era of World War II, which made a deep impression upon her.
Paula met her future husband, Henry, when she was 16 years of age. He was enlisted in the U.S. army forces for two years, and transferred to Schweinfurt, where they met. They were married in Schweinfurt, Germany, on August 21, 1954. Paula then left her Homeland to come to America with her husband, and settled in Choteau, Montana. There, they raised their five children. They moved to the West Coast for a couple of years and then came back to Choteau to settle on the Family Farm. Paula was a source of strength to her husband, as he was in the ministry she stood by his side faithfully. She also had an unconditional love for her children, family was very important to her.
Ten years after Henry's passing, Paula moved to Bozeman, Montana, to help her son Louis get the medical attention he needed. She lived there until the time of her death.
Survivors include her children: Louis Bouma, Hank (Laura) Bouma, Norrine (Phillip) Kaat, Barney (Emily) Bouma, and Karen (Steven) Aichelmann. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Paula was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry, her parents, George and Ella Jaud, a sister, Elfrieda Scheller, and two brothers, Wolfgang and Bend Jaud. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carmen Hendrickson.
A funeral service will be held at the Old Paths Strict Baptist Chapel in Choteau, Montana, Thursday, June 1, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Lytle officiating. The burial will follow at the Choteau Cemetery.
Friends and family may attend a viewing at the Gorder Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Paula was known for her kindness to others and her friendly smile she will be dearly missed.
A memorial fund will be established in Paula's name.
