Paul Decker

Paul Anthony Decker, 74, of Rossie, Iowa; passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 while visiting his home away from home out west. - Choteau, Montana. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Frontier Funeral Home and a Celebration of life will take place at a later date in Iowa.

Paul was born on October 16, 1950 in Estherville, Iowa to Benner and Querida (Rickman) Decker. Paul attended Elementary School in Arnold's Park Iowa and High School in Spencer, Iowa graduating with the class of 1969.

Paul met and married the love of his life, Sharon Lewis, in 1982. The couple built a wonderful life with their children, traveling, selling candles at flea markets, visiting family and making lifelong friends. Paul played football for the Tigers in high school and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His passion was for all things mechanical. He loved restoring cars and engines, building demolition derby cars and attending car races. He was somewhat of a local celebrity for his Dodge Dart that he built, and street raced. His love of the mountains and the American west started as a child with yearly family vacations to the mountains. He enjoyed camping and hunting but more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Paul worked as a mechanic his whole life; he was certified and accredited. He worked at Eaton's and Konig Portables both in Spencer and for the last couple of years he shared a portable shower business with his wife.

Paul is survived by his wife and best friend, Sharon Decker; Children, Chad Decker, Tracy (Rob) Verdoorn and Nicole (Byron) Bergeson, all of Spencer, IA; Siblings, Janet Wright of Omaha, NE, Ruth Jensen of Choteau, MT, David (Joy) Decker of Spencer, IA, and William "Bill" (Jaquie) Decker of Peterson, IA; as well as 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his daughter, Mindee Wilcox; grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia and Hendrix; mother-in-law, Peggy Hurless; brothers-in-law, Robert Wright and John Jensen; and a nephew, Jason Jensen.

In lieu of flowers donations in Paul's name are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation or the American Heart Association.
