Nancy (Genger) Blouin
Nancy Blouin passed away at the age of 91 on Sunday afternoon November 27 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Havre Montana on August 13, 1932, to Lee and Doris Grant. Her brother Gary completed the family.
In 1951 she married Ward Genger from Fairfield Montana. Out of that marriage came four future educators, Jody (Music/Elementary Ed.), Harold (Tres,) (Business/PE} Grant (Social Studies/PE) and Matthew (Dado) (Elementary Ed}.
One evening her father came home with a piano that he had won in a poker game. The piano became her companion and her lifelong passion. Nancy taught lessons to 100's of children and was well known for her ability to play at dances, church, and at impromptu events. -often playing by ear.
In 1966, Nancy began operating Nancy's Gift and Apparel; a clothing store on Fairfield 's Main Street. She sold the store in 1975. In 1979, Nancy began her formal music education, (To join the Family Business). She graduated from WMC in 1983 and began her teaching career. Nancy taught K - 12 Music in several schools in Montana and North Dakota.
In 1998 she married David Blouin. They spent their winters in Arizona, where she met many new friends. In 1999 she and David moved to Deer Lodge Montana to be close to her daughter, Jody. Nancy lived there until 2012 when she moved back to Fairfield where she was living at the time of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lee and Doris, her husbands; Ward and David and her brother Gary.
She is survived by her children, Jody (Phil) Maxwell of Fairfield Montana, Tres (Barb) Genger of Cut Bank Montana, Grant (Boni) Genger of Joliet Montana and Dado (Gail) Genger of Augusta Montana, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. With one great and one great-great grandchild on the way.
Nancy will always be remembered for her ability to play the piano, passion for music, her strength of spirit, and feistiness. She will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 9, 2023, at the United Church of Christ in Fairfield Montana officiated by Pastor Mike Manuel.
