Myra Lee Richards, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2020.
Myra was born to Stanley J and Bertha K Mitchell in 1935 in Gladstone, OR. She met and married Walt in Oregon City, OR in 1955. In 1972, they moved to Montana and built a thriving business - Richards Oil Company in Kalispell. After the sale of their business they moved to Dutton, MT in 1996 to live out their dream of ranch life.
Myra was actively involved in her church wherever they lived, and played piano for Sunday services. She baked dozens of cookies for the church kids' ministry, and was famous for her chocolate cake and amazing pie crust! She was a good friend to all - maintaining contact with friends from school, business, and church all her life. Her hand-written Christmas cards were legendary.
She loved to garden, and Walt always made sure that her garden was well-prepared for her to enjoy. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and shared many of her creations with friends and family. Each of her family members will cherish her demonstration of love for them through these gifts.
Myra was a fierce defender of her family and her country. She loved to engage with people on any topic. She loved her Lord, and was ready and anxious to share her faith with all whom she knew. Many today share that faith because of her ready smile and kind words of encouragement and acceptance.
She will be missed and continues to be loved by her family and friends.
Myra is survived by her loving husband Walt Richards, Jr; daughter Nancy Richards (husband Leon Marshall); son Walt Richards III (wife Susan); grandchildren Gregory McSullivan and Brittany Hass; great-grandchildren Jonah and Phoebe Hass; brother Stanley J Mitchell Jr; and nieces, cousins, and their families.
A memorial service will be held at a future date, when people are free to gather again.
Remembrances should be made to: Graceway Baptist Church in Great Falls, MT.
