Marvin Aune 1926-2015
Our loving husband, Dad and grandfather passed from this world on December 8, 2015 while surrounded by his devoted wife, Katherine, and all 8 of his adoring children. We take comfort in his arrival into the caring arms of Jesus. Marvin Edward Aune was born in International Falls Minnesota on March 9, 1926 to Martin Aune and Alma Lunsetter. He attended High School in International Falls and graduated in 1944 just in time to enter the Army and proudly serve at the end of World War II. He was drafted and shipped out immediately after his high school graduation ceremony to Fort Benning, Georgia and attended communications training in El Paso, Texas. He served as Communications Chief in the Philippines and Japan. Marvin was honorably discharged in 1948 as Staff Sergeant. After the war he was employed by Western Electric Co. in Illinois and attended Millikan University in Decatur, Illinois for electronics engineering mathematics. While in Decatur he met Katherine (Kay) Kokaly and in October 1948 they were married. In December 1948 Katherine and Marvin moved to Dutton Montana to join his father and brother in law in an agricultural business venture, A& P Motors Inc. Marvin was a partner in A&P Motors in Dutton with his father, brother and other family members until he retired in 1996.
Marvin and Kay made their home in Dutton from 1948 until 2013 and lived in the same house in Dutton for 65 years. Marvin and Katherine had 8 children who were raised in Dutton and now they have 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Marvin was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, served as Dutton fire Chief and was active in the American Legion Post where he was post of Commander for a term. He was an active bowler and enjoyed a good game of golf. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and was thrilled to catch a big rainbow trout well into his 80's. He was also an avid hunter and taught all of his boys to become enthusiastic outdoorsmen. He routinely shared the outdoors with his family during many camping adventures. Marvin and Katherine were excellent dancers and did so whenever possible. Marvin was a very devoted family man and dedicated to raising his children and more recently enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren represent the significant legacy for his time on this world.
Marvin is survived by his wife Katherine and all 8 of his children; Marie Crawford (Bob)-Choteau, Marvin F. Aune (Patricia)-Dutton, Francis Combs (Jim) -Great Falls, Marlene Olson (Jim)-Great Falls, Keith Aune (Cindy)-Bozeman, David Aune (Shelley)-Helena, Eileen Darlinton (Norman)-Three Forks, Chris Aune-Hobson (Sue).
