Marilee (Mitchell) Stott was born and raised in Missoula, Montana to Norman "Duke" Don Mitchell and Emma LaRhea (Millard) Mitchell on October 17, 1962. She graduated from Florence Carlton High School in 1981. Marilee met Daniel Cloyd Stott on a blind date on June 1, 1991. She drove home from this date knowing she would marry Daniel, and 2.5 months later, on August 16, 1991, Daniel and Marilee were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were married just short of 33 years before Marilee's passing on June 29, 2024.
Before marrying Daniel, Marilee worked for Dr. Ellen Jones in Stevensville, MT as her secretary. After marrying Daniel, she became a stay-at-home mom, raising 8 children. She enjoyed and took great pride in her work as a mother and homemaker, and was known for her cooking skills. After her children were raised, she worked for Easter Seals serving those in her community with disabilities, and also enjoyed working with her husband, Daniel, on their family ranch.
Marilee's greatest joys were serving in many positions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving her family, and serving in her community. Every Memorial Day, she would place flowers on graves in honor of passed veterans. After 3 long years (2005 - 2008) of fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Marilee decided to give back by volunteering with the Red Cross as the Director for 15 years in Choteau, MT. This was work that brought her great joy and meaning. She led these blood drives up until her Stomach Cancer diagnosis in October 2023 that led to her passing in 2024.
Her favorite scripture was "Be still and know that I am God" - Psalms 46:10
Marilee is survived by her husband, Daniel Cloyd Stott, her 8 children (in order from oldest to youngest): Michelle Lee (Stott) Gale, Jason Autrayue Stott, Isaac Cloyd Stott, Dana Geniel (Stott) Burhoe, Emily LaRhea (Stott) Webster, Julia Gineal (Stott) Stone, Grant Daniel Stott, and Aubree (Stott) Giblette. She is also survived by her older sisters, Linda LaRhea (Mitchell) Allred, Sherry Dawn (Mitchell) Skillman, and her younger sister Joni Kay (Mitchell) Muir, as well as her 20 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Norman "Duke" Mitchell and Emma LaRhea (Millard) Mitchell, and her grandson Winston Stott (son of Isaac Stott).
