Lois Franklin Habets, 68, of Dutton, died August 23, 2013,at Teton Medical Center in Choteau.
Lois was born on October 26, 1944, in Detroit, MI, to Thomas J. and Lourene Squire Franklin. She grew up in the Lost Creek neighborhood outside Anaconda, MT. After graduating from high school, Lois enlisted in the US Army, serving in Germany when President Kennedy was assassinated.
Lois married Gene Habets on December 2, 1967, in Anaconda. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life. Lois also worked as a nurses aide, waitress and cook, and owned a restaurant in Conrad, MT. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, served her church auxiliary, and recently wrote a nursing home column for her local newspaper.
Lois is survived by her husband Gene, and four of five daughters, LaVee (Kenneth) Arnold of Deer Lodge, Vi Habets of Dutton, Char (JC) Shepard of Cheyenne, WY, and Farlee (John) Albertson of Bremerton, WA, and her brother Kenneth (Barb) Franklin of Anaconda, MT. Her grandchildren include Tyler (Jessica) Arnold of Helena, Chris Albertson of Deer Lodge, Carrie Carlbom of Cheyenne, WY, Mallory Arnold of McCleary, WA, Sarah Albertson of Bremerton, Cyndi Albertson of Deer Lodge, Steven Werre of Dutton, Derek Carlbom of Cheyenne, Dominique Albertson of Bremerton, Brian Carlbom of Cheyenne, and Mason Carlbom and Brenden Carlbom of Las Vegas, NV.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Noreena Habets.
A vigil service will take place August 30, at 7pm, and funeral mass August 31, at 1pm, both at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Choteau. Burial will follow at 4pm, at Dutton Cemetery under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Teton County EMS or the Teton County Sheriff's Department.
