Leslie Lyle Arensmeyer, 91, a lifelong farmer, rancher, and esteemed businessman in Choteau, graduated to Heaven on October 30, 2023. Les was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, community involvement, and a passion for history. Les's life was a testament to the value of family, faith, and a strong connection to his community.
Les was born on May 30, 1932, in Glendive, Montana. His parents brought him to the Choteau area when he was just a few months old, where he would go on to build a life rich in purpose. He grew up surrounded by an extended family, the beauty of Montana, the values of hard work, resilience, and dedication. These values would shape his character and guide him throughout his lifetime.
A veteran of the Korean War, Les bravely served his country, exemplifying the courage and commitment that he displayed in all aspects of his life. After returning from service, he continued to serve, albeit in different ways. He was a dedicated member of the Choteau Baptist Church, where he found solace and fellowship in his faith. Les was also a proud member of the Gideons, an organization dedicated to distributing Bibles and spreading the Word of God, and the American Legion Post 6, further demonstrating his commitment to community and service.
One of Les's most cherished roles was that of a loving husband to Carol, his devoted partner of 70 years. Their love and partnership served as an inspiring example for their family and the community. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Les's world, demonstrating the importance of strong family bonds.
Les is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, and their three children, Norman, Lyla (married to Mark Armstrong), and Linda (married to Gregg Baker). Les's legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Zach, Sam (married to Mariah), Leslie, Jesse, and Becca. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Lucy, Kohen, Jens, Aksel, and Lily, who brought immense joy into his life. Les's love for his family was immeasurable.
In addition to his family, Les is survived by his brother, Walter Arensmeyer, who shared in his journey through life, offering support, camaraderie, and an unbreakable bond of brotherhood.
He also leaves behind close family friend, Cecil Goodman(married to Janice).
A celebration of Les's life will take place on November 16th, 2023, to honor the impact he had on his community and loved ones. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Farmington Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM at the Choteau Baptist Church, where Les's faith was steadfast. A reception will follow the service, providing an opportunity for friends and family to come together and share their memories of a remarkable man.
Leslie Lyle Arensmeyer leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and community involvement that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
