Leonette Jaumotte

November 2, 1912 — April 27, 2013

Leonette Rudel (Ona) Lodmell Jaumotte, died on April 27, 2013, at Teton Medical Center extended care, of natural causes. She was 100 years old. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM July 20, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, MT. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home of Choteau.

Ona was born on November 2, 1912, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Anders and Ragnhild (Loen) Lodmell. The family moved to Brockton, Montana in 1916, where they managed the hotel. After living with her brother attending her freshman year in Grand Forks, ND, at age 16, Ona graduated from Brockton High School in the first graduating class in 1929. For the next 2 summers, she worked in a concession just outside of Yellowstone Park. She attended the University of Montana in Missoula for one year, before transferring to Billings, where Eastern Montana college was being opened, and earned her associates degree in teaching.

Ona taught one year in each of three rural schools; first north of Joplin, then Wolf Point, and lastly, a school across the Missouri River, south of Brockton.

She and Albert Leo Jaumotte were married on December 28, 1933. After a few years of farming in the Brockton area in the 30's, they decided to move west, and bought the farm in the Bole area south of Choteau. Al seeded the fields in the fall of 1942, and the family moved in the summer of 1943.

Ona was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was a busy hard-working mother, farm wife, baker, seamstress, quilt maker, bridge player, calligrapher, crafter of everything imaginable, and a faithful Christian in raising her family. Although her body was not up to it in the last few years, her mind continued to think of pillow or potholder designs. She loved to give away what she made. Her quilts are legendary and you knew you (and your children) were loved when you received one of her creations.

She also specialized in Norwegian treats that she not only served in her home and gave away to friends and family, but made it a priority to pass along those recipes and traditions to her family.

Ona is survived by her children, Joe (Pat) Jaumotte of Pittsburgh, PA, and Julie Wolff of Choteau, MT; grandchildren, David Jaumotte of Rochester Hills, MI, Jennifer Jaumotte and Juliann Jaumotte of Pittsburgh, PA, Paul (Sunny) Fulbright of Great Falls, MT, Charlie Fulbright of Spokane, WA, Stephen Wolff of Whidby Island, WA, Thomas (Brittany) Wolff of Helena, MT, and Gary Wolff of Great Falls, MT; great grandchildren, Jacob Jaumotte, Luke Jaumotte, and Rachel Jaumotte of Rochester Hills, MI, Olivia Preto of Pittsburgh, PA, Peyton Fulbright of Great Falls, MT, Megan Fulbright, and Elliott Fulbright of Spokane, WA, Erica Wolff and Noah Wolff of Choteau, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert in 1978, a daughter, Janica Fulbright in 2002; also her siblings: Florence Lodmell, Leonard B. Lodmell, Clarence Almer Lodmell, Walter Jergen Lodmell, Anton Merrin Lodmell, Samuel Millard Lodmell, Ephraim Ammons Lodmell, Ina Catherine Lodmell Reynolds, Clarence Reuben Lodmell, and Robert Oliver Lodmell.

Memorials are suggested to the Teton Medical Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church. On line condolences may be left at www.gorderjensenfuneralhome.com
