Katherine Zier

May 24, 1919 — April 27, 2013

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013at the Gorder Jensen Funeral Chapel for Katherine "Kay" J. Zier, age 93, longtime Agawam and Choteau resident who died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Teton Nursing Home from natural causes. Interment will follow in the Choteau Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the funeral home.



Kay was born May 24, 1919 in Agawam, MT, the daughter of Carl and Dina (Van der Hayden) Frank. She attended school at the Weist School East of Agawam. She married Alexander Zier on February 5, 1934 in Choteau, MT.



She was a homemaker who enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing and scrap-booking. She was a big help to her husband on the farm and in the elevator. A perfect day for her was having coffee with her friends in the morning at the Trading Post and eating one of Dave Wedum's cookies. In the afternoon she would have dinner with Louise Stott at the John Henrys and in the evening she would have a cup of coffee at the bowling alley.



Kay was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Agawam Social Club.



Kay is survived by her children: Geraldine (Hank) Smith of Choteau, MT, and Dick Zier of Billings, MT; grandchildren: Linda ( Dick) Erickson of Eugene, OR, Bill (Mary) Smith of Choteau, MT; Julie (Warren) Veltman of Ada, MI, Amy (Joel) Higgins of Auburn, WA, Mindy (Blaine) Cox of Charlo, MT, Jennifer (Mitch) Jorgensen of Langden, ND, Staci (Jake) Obie of Gillette, WY, Ryan (Jennifer) Zier of Dickenson, ND, Brittani Zier of Billings, MT,, Kyle Shlichenmayer of Denver, CO, and Zach Swan of Minneapolis, MN; a sister Edith Garwich in New Jersey and a brother, Les (Lovita) Frank of Anaconda, MT. She also is survived by 24 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and in-laws.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Shirley; a brother: Henry and sisters: Caroline Goss, and Lorraine Frank.
