John Lawrence Carlson passed away March 5, 2016 at Benefis Teton Medical Center in Choteau, MT after a brave battle with cancer. A Celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Friday March 18 at 11:00 AM.
John was born in Great Falls, MT January 13, 1938 to Clarence Carlson and Merinda Johnson. He was raised in Choteau, MT with his brother Albert, Sister Lou and his cat Muffy. John attended school in Choteau and Graduated from Choteau High School in 1956. He was part of the Choteau Bulldogs football team and was an active member of 4-H.
After high school John fell in love Jacqueline Louise (Shaw) Carlson and on September 16, 1961 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Great Falls, MT they were married. The couple was blessed with 4 children. 2 boys Carl and Doug and 2 Girls Jonel and Kim.
John spent 41 years as a feed salesman and he served as a Sargent in the Army National Guard out of Great Falls. John was a man of many interests which included hunting, fishing, golfing, water skiing, civic and church activities. He was a 78 year member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Choteau, a member of the Sons of the Legion and always enjoyed assisting with the 4th of July Rodeo and Barbeques for other functions as well. Also he was awarded the Harvest States Distinguished Manager Award which he was very proud of.
John loved spending time with his family. He especially loved going on vacations; his favorites being an Alaskan Cruise and a Caribbean Cruise. John enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and being surrounded by his loved ones especially his wife, children and grandchildren.
John is survived by 2 daughters Jonel (Brad) Hodgskiss and Kim (Scott) Anderson, his brother Albert C. Carlson, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John was proceeded in death by his wife Jacqueline Carlson, 2 sons Carl Hanson and Doug Hanson, his parents Clarence and Merinda Carlson, his sister Lou, 2 Brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law and a daughter-in-law Margret Hanson .
