On Wednesday August 21st, 2019, James E. Weinert passed away at the age of 85.
Jim was born on April 15th, 1934, in Pittsburg, PA, the youngest son of George F. Weinert and Blanche Bennett.
Jim enlisted into the Air Force to become a jet engine mechanic. He was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane Washington. It was while he was stationed there he went on a blind date with a young lady from Choteau, MT (Annetta Dellwo). He was smitten. They were married and when he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, they made a home in Choteau MT where James was employed as a mechanic. They were married for 65 years.
They had four children: Jimmy (Ana), Steve (Dawn), Denise (Steve) and George (Karen). They had thirteen Grand Children which he greatly enjoyed.
He was a volunteer fireman for the Choteau Fire Department for many years. In 1997 he was honored to be named the Citizen of the Year. He proudly displayed his award above his kitchen table for everyone to see and comment on. Other activities he enjoyed over the years were ice boating, bird hunting, sitting on the porch with Annetta watching the squirrels and birds, daily coffee at the Outpost (where most of the world problems were solved), evening soda pop runs, working in his garage making parts for people and socializing with friends.
The last few years of his life were extremely difficult when Annetta was no longer able to live at home, due to her illness. His world was never the same.
James was preceded in death by his father George, his mother Blanche, and his youngest son George. He is survived by his wife Annetta and three children, Jimmy, Steve and Denise.
There will be a service at the Choteau Cemetery at 11am followed by a Celebration of Jim's Life at the Choteau Country Club at noon on October 5th.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Choteau Lions Swimming Pool or to the Choteau Volunteer Fire Department.
