Jacob P. Wipf, 93 passed away March 3, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Miller Colony with burial to follow at the Miller Colony Cemetery.
Jacob was born January 20, 1930 in Alexandria, South Dakota to Paul and Rebecca (Hofer) Wipf.
In 1934 Jacob with his mom and siblings moved to Raymond, Alberta, Canada. His father Paul passed away when Jacob was 1 1/2 years old. He lived at the OK Colony until 1949. His mom and the rest of his family moved to Choteau, MT, Miller Colony where he resided the rest of his life. It was here that Jacob married Mary Wurtz on June 25, 1958 and they were blessed with eight sons.
In his early years Jacob was a blacksmith and then a German School Teacher and tended the colony's garden for seven years, a job he took very seriously.
Jacob was a Minister of 54 years, preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jacob was very passionate about colony life, tirelessly devoting his life to the Hutterian Church and its members. Jacob never forgot that after his father died, growing up without a dad, his mother was left with 6 young children, yet they never wanted for anything, the colony took care of him and his family all of their lives.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rebecca; his brother Paul; sisters Mary, Susan and Rebecca; his first-born, Jacob, at birth and a granddaughter, Marie.
Jacob is survived by his wife Mary, his children Jake(Frieda) Wipf, Paul (Mary) Wipf, Daniel (Annie) Wipf, David (Dora) Wipf, Ben (Susie) Wipf all of Choteau, MT and Joseph (Katie) Wipf, Ted (Theresa) Wipf of Conrad, MT. His brother John (Susanna) Wipf of Fort Benton and twenty seven grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren.
