Helen Bishop

December 23, 1949 — February 2, 2021

Helen Elaine Bishop, 71, of Choteau, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones, February 2, 2021 at Benefis Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana after a long battle with illness.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2:00 o'clock pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, Montana. For those whom plan on attending, please wear a mask and follow all covid-19 precautions and procedures. If you cannot attend a face book live of Helen's service will be streamed on the Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home Facebook page. A private scattering of Helen's remains will take place near her parents' remains, at a later date.

Helen was born December 23, 1949 in Antigo, Wisconsin to Peter and Elaine Helen (Gunther) Baumgartner. She was the oldest of four children. Helen attended primary school in Crandon, Wisconsin and graduated from Crandon High School with the class of '68. After high school, Helen attended the Nicolet Area Technical College (NATC) where she studied to be an automotive mechanic and became ASE certified.

Helen had 5 children, with her first husband, who kept her on her toes. She worked a wide array of jobs some of which were bartending, mechanic at Bill's Station, Phalen's Salvage, and at Bemis Manufacturing all in Wisconsin. In 1997, Helen achieved one of her life long dreams of moving to Montana. She worked several jobs all at once, which she loved, as a school bus driver, a janitor for Bynum School, and teacher's aide for the Rockport Colony.

On June 24, 2000 Helen married the love of her life and her best friend, Randy Bishop, with whom she made a wonderfully blended family. Helen loved to sing, quilt, rock hound, gold pan, hunt, fish, gamble and garden but her last job, and probably her favorite, was being retired. She spent her time with her family as well as going to rummage sales and being a merchant at flea markets.

Helen is survived by her husband Randolph "Randy" Bishop of Choteau, MT; children: Laura (Joel) Nagro of Ashland, WI; Angela (Daniel) Retzlaff of Crandon, WI; Amanda Hauser of Madison, WI; Jonathan "Beautiful Baby Boy" Hauser; Jennifer Hauser (John Kothrade), and Alyssa Bishop all of Choteau; siblings: Brooke (Scott) Hopper, Isaac Baumgartner, and Kelly (Thomas) Pisano, all of Great Falls, MT; Ten grandchildren: Matthew Menting and Morgan (Ed) Grusecki of Green Bay, WI; Jassie Retzlaff (Taylor Sarri) of Appleton, WI; Jay Bishop and Devin Bishop of Choteau, MT; Jesse Hauser, Eric Huapaya, and Anabella (Bella) Williams of Choteau; Archer Hauser and Walker Hauser of Choteau, and her best friends Sue Knuth of Crandon, WI; Josie Lancaster of Oregon, and her first husband Ronald "Butch" Hauser.
