Gordon Grant Young, age 76, of Fairfield, MT died on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at a Great Falls care facility from natural causes. Cremation will take place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home of Choteau, MT. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Fairfield Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gordon was born April 12, 1936 in McIntosh, South Dakota, the son of Grant and Bertha (Hanson) Young. He was the 7th child in a family of 12. He attended school in Kalispell. He married Nora Minnick on August 23, 1957 in Whitefish, MT and has lived in Teton County for the last 25 years.
He was a member and a church elder of the Fairfield Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a veteran of the US Air Force serving as a heavy equipment operator in France during the Korean War.
He loved to fish, hunt and camp in the outdoors and riding motorcycles. He taught his boys all of these things. He was a truck driver and previously worked for J Neil, Buttrey Foods, Viking Freight and FedEx Transport. He was a good worker who supported his family well.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Nora Young of Fairfield, MT; Children: Toby Young of Virginia City, NV; Terry Young of Great Falls, MT, Glen Young of Olivehurst, CA, Novalee Young and Nada Leversee, both of Fairfield, MT and Jon Tuck of Tacoma, WA; Foster children: Peggy Feeler of Ft. Shaw, MT, Lisa Kirby of Great Falls, MT and Nina Red Thunder of Provo, UT; siblings: Bill Young of Tacoma, WA., Hazel Richmond of WA; Arlett Clairmont of Kalispell, MT, Ted Young of Helena, MT, Mickey Young of Kalispell, MT and Cindy McElderry of Omak, WA; 38 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Timmy Young and Derek Ahenakew Young; a daughter, Rachael Wilding; brothers: Richard, Robert and Duane Hanson and sisters: Alice Parsons and Bethel Nelson and two grandchildren.
