Fred Morris

January 15, 1924 — November 28, 2012

Fred Ernest Morris 88, retired rancher and earthmover passed away Nov. 28 at Pondera Medical Center in Conrad from natural causes. A longtime resident of Choteau and Augusta, he spent the last 7 years in local nursing homes - Choteau, Big Fork, Shelby, and Conrad.



Services will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Choteau on Tuesday Dec. 4 at 11:00 am. Burial at Choteau Cemetery will follow. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday Dec. 3 at Gorder Jensen Funeral Home. Gorder Jensen is handling funeral arrangements.



Fred was born on the family homestead near Augusta on Jan 15, 1924 the son of Mike and Katherine Morris. He attended schools in Augusta and Helena. He spent his early and mid-years working the family cattle ranch with his two brothers. As a sideline he worked in the Great Falls smelter, as a mechanic, and then started his own earthmoving business. He met the love of his Life, Judy Hanson at Simms and married on New Year's Eve 1946.



Fred loved animals, music, tinkering and people. He had an intense imagination and sense of humor. He was most happy creating, collecting, and fixing just about anything and everything. He was both artistic and mechanical and enjoyed fishing, travelling, and playing music in his brother's family dance band.



Survivors include a daughter Judy ( McKee ) Anderson of Dillon, sons Fred ( Laurie ) Morris of Conrad and Randy ( Jerri ) Morris of Choteau; a sister Pauline Warn of Helena; six grandchildren: Matt Morris of Choteau, Jamie Morris of Conrad, Gena Morris of Conrad, Jeremy Morris of Conrad, Amber Anderson of Tucson AZ, and Cameron Morris of Great Falls; two great grandchildren: Ryder Campanian of Conrad and Charlee Morris of Conrad; and many Nieces and Nephews.



He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five siblings: George Morris, Ellen Gorder, Kaye Namen, Fern Woodcock, and Mike Morris; and a grandson Cyril Morris.



The family wants to thank the many care givers that attended and befriended Fred in his long residency at the nursing homes. " A cup of Coffee, 2 Sugars, and give me your pop top".
