Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Choteau United Methodist Church in Choteau, MT for Florence Ellen Weist, age 92, long-time resident of Choteau, MT who died Saturday, November 24th at the Teton Medical Center from natural causes. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home and inurnment of her cremated remains in the Choteau Cemetery will be following her services.
Florence was born January 29, 1920 in Butler, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lee and Anna (Klein) Kauk. She spent most of her youth in Brady, MT moving to Agawam following her marriage to Ernest Weist on April 9, 1939. She lived the next 51 years in Agawam before moving to Choteau.
Florence was known for her baking skills, especially her cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, playing Bridge and teaching people how to make her cinnamon rolls. She was a 4-H Leader and Judge, a Hospice Volunteer, Secretary of the Montana Polled Hereford Association, Curator at the Old Trail Museum; Friends of the Library as well as trustee of the Methodist Church and Treasurer of the UMW.
She is survived by her daughter: Caralynn (Dick) Moore of Choteau, MT and Danny (Jackie) Weist of Choteau, MT; a sister: Gladys Yeager of Conrad, MT.; a brother: Elmer Kauk of Rocklin, CA; 7 grandchildren: Kirk (Mona) Moore of Choteau, MT, Leann (Mike) Herzog of Missoula, MT; Craig Moore and Danelle (Dusty) Crary, both of Choteau, MT.; Amy (Ken) Steinke of Ft. Shaw, MT, Kiley (Heath) Martinell of Dell, MT and Doug Weist of Choteau; and 16 great grandchildren: Michael Moore, Amanda Moore, Trevor Moore, Christopher Moore, Jonathan Moore, Kendra Moore, Tyler Moore, all of Choteau; Matthew Herzog and Mark Herzog, both of Missoula; Charlotte Crary, Connor Crary and Carson Crary, all of Choteau, MT; Dace Steinke of Ft. Shaw, MT; Macie Martinell, Taryn Martinell and Kalen Martinell, all of Dell, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 6 siblings.
