Florence Ruth (Bemis) Riphenburg, age 91, of 1161 County Line Road; Fort Shaw, MT died December 20, 2013 at Peace Hospice Residence in Great Falls, MT
She was born Sept. 10, 1922 in Chicago, IL and grew up and was educated in Chicago, IL. She married Howard Lester Riphenburg Sept. 23, 1942 in Chicago. He was in the Marine Corps and they moved to El Toro California after their marriage. Howard went overseas and she came to Montana and lived on the Fairfield Bench. After Howard returned from the service they moved to Kalispell for a few years and then back to the Fairfield Bench, where she lived the rest of her life. Howard died Feb. 7, 1987. They lived their life farming on the bench.
Survivors include: 4 sons: Roy (Patty) Riphenburg of Fort Shaw, MT, Ray (Joan) Riphenburg of Cascade, MT, Reed (Heidi) Riphenburg of Great Falls, MT and Ross (Donna) Riphenburg of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter: Gloria (Mike) Mellinger of Belgrade, MT; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother: Roy Bemis of Chicago.
Services will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church near Fairfield, MT, followed by a reception at the church. Interment was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Gorder Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Great Falls Rescue Mission.
