Florence Evelyn Carlson, age 91, of Choteau, MT died Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Teton Nursing Home in Choteau. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Stage Stop Inn Community Room in Choteau. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home. Interment of her cremated remains will be in Shelby, Montana.
She was born March 5, 1923 in Donnybrook, ND, the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (Cross) Blackwood. She was a homemaker and also worked as a grocery clerk for Buttery's Grocery Store in Shelby.
Florence was married to Earl Carlson in August 1943 in Minot, ND. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and she enjoyed playing cards, dancing and caring for her family.
She is survived by her son: Donald Carlson of Choteau, MT, daughter: Doris Stewart of Lethbridge, Alb. Canada; sisters: Hazel Rostad of Minot, ND, Myrtle Kurimski of Altuna, IA and Elizabeth (Steven) Afhton of Bremerton, WA; 9 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, a daughter: Renee (Carlson) Benoit, a son: Richard Arthur Carlson, granddaughter Kami Shantel Stewart, and 2 sisters: Helen (Blackwood) Powers and Ardelle (Blackwood) Broderson.
