Ethan Allen

On May 19th, 2022, you may have noticed dawn being a little dimmer as the world said goodbye to one of the good ones with the passing of Ethan Squires Allen at the age of 57 years old, at his home in Fairfield, Montana after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.



Born to Donald and LaDeanne Allen on January 2, 1965, in Choteau, Montana, Ethan blessed his family as the youngest boy and ultimately the best sibling to 9 brothers and sisters.



If you did not know Ethan, I'm sorry, because he was someone to know.



Ethan was an outdoorsman. The mountains held a special place in his heart and some of his favorite memories include his trips into the mountains with his Dad, time at the cabin, hunting trips and fishing in Alaska.



Ethan was a cowboy. He loved working with cattle and riding horses.



Ethan was an excellent athlete. A multi-sport talent and a football standout in high school. He was a born competitor and fan, he remained active in many sports throughout his life.



Ethan was a reader. Ethan always had a thirst for knowledge and words. To say he was an avid reader would be an understatement. He read for enjoyment and to learn, devouring books on anything that piqued his interest.



Ethan was a singer. Surprising to some, Ethan loved music and singing, especially Elvis. He grew up singing in musicals and as a lead singer in a couple of bands. His musical interests were diverse, and he willingly shared those interests with fortunate family and friends.



Ethan was a master builder. Not surprisingly, after Ethan began building, he went on to become one of the best. He won awards for his craftmanship and his quest for perfection can be seen in anything he touched. His skill and talent in wood working was astonishing and he loved what he did every day.



Ethan was a loyal friend. Ethan generously loved his friends and counted them as blessings. They meant the world to him, and he would do anything in the world for them. He unapologetically hugged, and you came to expect and look forward to receiving one of those larger-than-life hugs.



Ethan was a husband. Ethan and Jill were married for almost 36 years and a lifetime too short. Ethan was devoted to Jill and in his words," loved her more than he imagined someone could love another human." Of his favorite things, holding hands with his wife was unquestionably number one.



Ethan was a father. The very proud father to 4 sons, there was nothing more precious to Ethan than the days his boys were born and watching them grow into kind, generous, talented, handsome men. His greatest joys in life were his boys.



Lastly, Ethan was loved.



Ethan was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and LaDeanne, his sister LaDeanne and his beautiful son Wyatt.



Ethan is survived by his wife Jill, sons Camden, Austin, and Collin; brothers Wain (Becky), Russ (Wendy), Lyle (Jan), Lynn (Lynda); sisters Susan Ford (Steve); Sharyl, Cody Weisner (JT) and Amy Beller (Kevin).



A celebration of Ethan's life with be held on May 28th at his home, 420 1st Lane NW outside of Fairfield, MT at 11 a.m. If weather doesn't permit, services will be held at the Choteau Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to My Neighbor in Need.
