Eleanor Josephine (Jaeger) Morris, 86, of Choteau, passed away December 23, 2022 at Benefis Teton Medical Center in Choteau. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home and per Eleanor's wishes no services will be held at this time. Her remains will be interred in Augusta Cemetery in July and family and friends will have an intimate "get-together" at that time.
Eleanor was born May 26, 1936 to Jack and Rose Jaeger in Rugby, North Dakota; she was one of five children. Eleanor's family moved to Minot, North Dakota soon after her birth, where she spent the remainder of her youth. Eventually, life led Eleanor to Augusta, Montana where she met Royce Morris. The couple was married May 9, 1979 in Augusta. After Royce's passing Eleanor moved to Choteau; where she worked for Easter Seals, for quite some time. She took a job working at Skyline Lodge and worked there until her retirement.
Eleanor loved to be outdoors and she enjoyed flowers. More than anything, Eleanor loved her family. Her family always came first and she worked very had to take care of them.
Eleanor is survived by her sons Jeff Abele of Choteau, Montana; David (Christine) Abele of Florida and Doug (Kim) Lay of Great Falls, Montana. Her daughters Linda (Jerry) Myre of Great Falls, Montana; Sheila (Lex) McLean of Helena, Montana; Debbie (Steve) Strecker of Gillette, Wyoming and daughter-in-law Tammy Abele of Yachats, Oregon. A brother, Pete Jeager of Great Falls, Montana; sisters, Betty Linteenman of Great Falls, Montana, Claire (Albert) Reiter, Vicky Schell and Carol Mitzel all of North Dakota. Seven grandchildren, Amy Jones of Culbertson, Montana; Josh Abele of Wyoming; Whitney Abele of Great Falls, Montana; Billy and Michael Myre of Great Falls, Montana and Austin and Payton Abele of Oregon; as well as three great-grandchildren Jayden, Harmony and Oakland.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rose Gerger, her Husband Royce Morris and three sons Billy, Michael and Jerome Abele.
