Donna Horton

June 5, 1944 — May 9, 2023

Donna Jean Horton, 78, Conrad, passed away surrounded by family May 9th at Logan Health in Conrad. Per the family request no services will be held at this time.

Donna was born in Lansing, MI to Harold and Elaine Brooks. The first part of her life was spent in there, where she was very close with her grandmother, Elsie Watkins, Graduating from Lansing High in 1962. Donna married Gary Baxter in 1964. After having two children Gary and Bryon her marriage to Garry dissolved in 1980. Donna moved to Wolf Creek, MT in 1977, this was the first of several major relocations for her. She would spend time living in Dickson, Texas; Orlando, Florida; and would come back to Montana, settling down in 1984 in Philipsburg with Husband, Paul Horton. They would make two more moves. The first, to Choteau where they resided from 2004 until 2022 when they moved to Conrad. During this time Donna held many jobs. She worked as a logger’s helper, secretary, bookkeeper, managed a Wendy’s, and a store owner, but her biggest accomplishment was keeping Paul on the straight and narrow.

Donna had a passion for art. She loved to spend her time painting or making pottery. She was a fan of photography and in her adventures would take many pictures. These adventures would take her to the beaches of Hawaii. Despite being sunburned a lot, she always wanted to go back and spend more time. Whether it being a fishing trip to Holter Lake Perch or just stopping to smell the flowers Donna lived her life to the fullest and will be missed by her friends and family.

Preceding Donna in death are her parents, Harold and Elaine Brooks; grandmother, Elsie; brother, Donald; and sister, Joyce.

Donna leaves behind her husband of 39 years, Paul Horton; sons, Gary (Tammy) Baxter, Bryon (Rhonda) Baxter; loving sister, Jocile; former in-laws, Daryl, Sheila, Janice “Stretch”; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

We would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and hospital staff that cared for Donna. You are all the most compassionate people.
