Donna Alzheimer

Donna B. Alzheimer, 93, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Great Falls, MT. She was born on May 4, 1931, in Poplar, MT, to Charlie Prior and Edith (Smith) Prior. Donna was raised in Brockton, MT, before meeting her future husband, Paul Alzheimer, in Choteau, MT. The two married on June 25, 1952, in Choteau, and spent 44 years together until Paul's passing.

Donna and Paul made their home on the Alzheimer family farm in the rural Choteau/Collins area. A devoted homemaker, Donna was known for her lovely singing voice, which she shared at weddings, funerals, and community events. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and took an active role in her community, participating in the Collins Community Club and volunteering as a reading buddy at local schools.

Donna's professional career began in 1951 when she became the first lab tech to work at the Choteau Hospital. She later became a full-time farm wife and worked part-time as a nurse's aide at the hospital. Donna was a graduate of lab tech school in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son, Tim; and sisters, Becky Scott, Molly Kapinos, Gloria Sayers, and Shirley Nelson.

Donna is survived by her two sons, Gary (Lori) Alzheimer of Fairfield and Greg (Lori) Alzheimer of rural Choteau; daughter-in-law, Stacey Alzheimer of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Josh Alzheimer, Jason Alzheimer, Kaela Shumway, and Marlsal Alzheimer; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Alzheimer, Anika Alzheimer, Kyria Alzheimer, Conlin Alzheimer, Hayden Shumway, and Eyyn Shumway.

Donations may be made to the donor's choice or to the Methodist Church of Choteau.
