Billy Richmond

September 24, 1964 — September 6, 2021

Billy Joe Richmond, 56 of Choteau, passed away suddenly September 6, 2021 after being involved in an accident while horseback riding on his ranch in Agawam. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home and per Billy's wishes no services are to be held. There will be a "party" in his honor at a later date.

Billy was born September 24, 1964 in Portland, Oregon to Marshall and Ardythe (Downen) Richmond. He was the youngest of five children, Billy grew up in and around the Portland area graduating from John Adams High School with the class of 1983.

After high school he worked in the Portland area. He was a "Jack of all trades". He mainly worked in construction but also worked a few temp jobs, in the ship yards near Portland and cleaning carpets for Keith Reynolds. Hard work was ingrained into Billy's being; he even spent his 21st birthday pouring concrete and never ended up having the chance to officially celebrate.

In 2010, Billy moved to Spokane, Washington. There he met the love of his life Lana Erichsen. Billy and Lana were married June 9, 2014 in Spokane. Billy loved fishing, a good camp fire, rodeos, horses, working on vehicles, and helping friends and family wherever he could . Many members of his family were involved in rodeo and as a young person he even competed in bareback and bull riding. Even though he stopped competing he never stopped attending. Although Billy was never able to have children of his own, he loved kids, and even was Santa's helper at Christmas time. He loved Lana's children and treated them as if they were his own.

A cowboy to the core, Billy found his forever home here in Montana and in 2020, Billy moved to Choteau, Montana to start on their newest adventure. Lana joined him in May 2021. They purchased 40 acres outside of Choteau which they planned to farm and ranch. Billy loved animals and couldn't wait to have farm animals on their property. Even though Billy never sugar coated anything he was a sweet and kind-hearted man and will be missed terribly by those that knew and loved him.

Billy is survived by his wife Lana Erichsen-Richmond of Choteau, Montana; his children Cayla Clark, Jessica Bowen, Cory Dahl and Ryann Dahl all of Spokane, Washington; brothers Dennis(Toni) Downen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Audie and William "Willy" Richmond both of Portland, Oregon; a sister Barbara Jordan of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren Rory Bacon, Caden Clark, Danny Reindl, Jordayn Erichsen, Amaya Reindl, Zoey Reindl and Lilie "#7" Bewick as well and numerous nieces and nephews including Willow Beaulieu, extended family.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Ardythe Richmond, mother and father in-law Carole and Larry Erichsen, maternal and paternal grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Billy's name can be made to the American Legion C/O the Rodeo Committee; PO Box 151 Choteau, Montana 59422.
