Long-time Choteau resident Bertha (Brutosky) Anderson, age 96, died Tuesday, July 17th at the Teton Medical Center in Choteau, Mt from natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM , Wednesday, July 25th at the Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the Choteau Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM , Tuesday, July 24th at the Gorder Jensen funeral Home in Choteau.
Bert's parents homesteaded on the Sun River in 1915. She rode horseback to the Liberty School, and then went to Augusta High School. When she graduated in 1934, she had the prerequisites, and desire to go to nursing school but had no money. In the fifties, she got certification as a nurse's aide and worked at the Teton Nursing Home for many years. She retired (as she said) "When I noticed that I was older than some of the residents." She lived at Skyline Lodge for the past eight years.
She enjoyed sewing, scrap-booking and her children's activities. She had been a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Auxiliary.
She was married to Arthur Raymond Anderson on May 8, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She is survived by her three children: Bruce Anderson of Missoula, MT, Susan Anderson of Ft. Collins, CO, and David Anderson of Ukiah, CA; sisters: Rose Slanger of Choteau and Kay Larsen of Oregon, brother and sisters in law: Andy (Bess) Brutosky of Choteau, Maddy Anderson of Great Falls; 2 grandchildren: Kimberly Anderson of Idaho and Kris Stanton of Missoula, MT; 6 great grandchildren: Joshua Gray, Jeremy Gray and Ashley Gray, all from Missoula, Josie Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Shawnae Stanton, all of Missoula, MT and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
