Benney Hamman

March 29, 1940 — May 2, 2024

In Loving Memory of Benney "Doc" Hamman.

Doc, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed from this world on 5/2/24 at the age of 84. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on 3/29/40 to Mike and Geneva Hamman, Doc lived a life filled with laughter, love, and hard work. Doc and Tooty met when they were in their early twenties and fell in love. After only dating for two months, the pair married in Augusta, Wisconsin, on September 26, 1959, and were married for 64 years. He touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered for his dry humor and shining smile.

Doc worked at Navistar International for 30 years and moved to Montana with his wife in 1998 after retirement. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in the beauty of nature, whether on the back of a motorcycle or in the woods camping or hunting. Doc loved to tinker in the garage and took great pride in his lawn. His presence illuminated every room he entered, and his absence left a void that could never be filled. Doc leaves behind his wife Tooty, daughter Rikki Martin, ex-son-in-law Terry Martin, granddaughters Christina Schadel (Daniel) and Stephanie Martin (Lucas Thurston), and great-grandchildren Cooper, Jayden, and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Hamman, his mother, and father, three brothers, and one sister. His family, the center of his world, will forever cherish the memories shared and the love bestowed upon them. Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Bright Eyes Animal Shelter in honor of Doc's memory.

A graveside service for Doc will be held on May 11 at 11 :00 at the Choteau Cemetery. Friends and family will come together to honor and remember the beautiful soul who graced our lives. Afterward, a luncheon will be held at the Outpost Deli.

Doc may have left this world, but his legacy of hard work, loyalty, and honesty will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the darkness and inspiring us to be the best versions of ourselves.

Rest in peace, Doc. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
