Arlene Margaret Anderson
On the morning of November 21, 2015 , Arlene passed away at Teton Co Medical Center in Choteau, Montana after a long extended illness. The entire family was able to gather to be with her in her last days. She was 76 years old.
Arlene was born in Conrad, Montana on March 22, 1939. She was the second of three daughters to Earl and Margaret Jacobson. She grew up on the farm outside Valier Montana and attended a country school until 8th grade, where she had said she was at "the top of her class- and the only one in her class". She then went to Valier High School where she met and had wonderful times with what would be lifelong friends. After high school she worked in a doctor's office in Conrad, moved to Seattle where she attended school briefly and was a nanny, before returning to Montana to work in Billings as a dental assistant. She met her husband Ray at a dance in Pendroy, Montana. They were married 55 years and lived and raised their family of four daughters in Choteau.
Arlene and Ray worked as a team on the farm with Arlene doing the books, making wonderful hot meals for the harvest crew, running errands for Ray and sometimes even driving the grain truck. But her favorite job was being a mother to her girls. She taught them to be strong, independent and caring.
Arlene's passions were her Catholic faith, family, flowers, friends and her animals, Sam (her little sidekick dog) and her cats over the years, especially Buddy who loved her dearly. Through the years Arlene also worked at the school and loved all her kids on the playground, as well as spent time at The Trading Post and the flower shop, where she enjoyed talking to customers and working with the flowers.
Ray and Arlene enjoyed many trips from Hawaii to Europe to Israel and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking the family on an Alaskan cruise.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Rose and Delores. She leaves behind her husband Ray, daughters Raelene, Melanie and her husband Kirk, Cherie and Ty, and Tami and her husband Brian, her grandchildren Mitchell, Devon, Travis, Emma and Austin.
Arlene will remain in our hearts and memories forever. We know you are in heaven Mom and will always be there to guide us. We miss you and love you.
Arlene will be laid to rest with a Rosary on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home in Choteau at 7pm and her funeral mass will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Choteau on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 11am. There will a burial immediately following at the Choteau Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Bright Eyes animal rescue in Choteau would be appreciated.
