Annetta Helen Louise Weinert, age 89, died on Tuesday, August 1st, five days short of her 90th birthday, in Logan Medical Center where she had lived for the last five years during her battle with Alzheimer disease. She was born in Choteau on August 6th, 1933, to Helen and Tom Dellwo. She was the youngest of seven children.
Once Annetta graduated from high school, she and a couple of friends left for adventures in the big city of Spokane Washington. While she was working as a bank teller, she went on a blind date with a young man who was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. They fell in love and were married. When he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, they made a home in Choteau MT where James was employed as a mechanic. They were married for 65 years.
The Vigil Service for Annetta is on August 10th starting at 7 pm, at the Frontier Funeral Home in Choteau. Her funeral mass will be on August 11th at 11 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Choteau. Interment will be in the Teton County Cemetery with a reception in the basement of the church rectory for a light lunch and fellowship.
Annetta was a volunteer for most of her life. Dearest to her heart was any and everything she could do for Saint Joseph Catholic Church where she was baptized in September 1933; through the years she participated in the Choir, the Council of Catholic Women, and delivered the Eucharist to the homebound. She was a Cub Scout den mother, a blood drive volunteer for the Red Cross, and a member of the Red Hat Society. Netta loved to sing. At home, she would hum! We called the humming “the never-ending song.” She was always happy!
Annetta retired from the Choteau U.S. Postal Service in October of 1992 with over 20 years of service; she was known and knew everyone in town. Annetta was a friend to all!
She is survived by her children Jimmy (Ana Spiker) Weinert, Steve (Dawn) Weinert, Denise (Steve) Greenwood, and daughter-in-law Karen Weinert; grandchildren Bryce (Randall Meehl) Weinert, Sean (Kat) Weinert, Annie (David) Schroeder, Brianna (David) Gerena, Carly (Keith) Rychner, Bob (Lisa) Greenwood, Tina (Mike) Cozad, Andrew (Michelle) Weinert, Billy Weinert, Katriel Spiker, Rachel (Michael) Gage, Wyatt Wickum and Libby Wickum; brother Larry Dellwo; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Annetta was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years James E. Weinert, youngest son George Weinert, great-granddaughter Stevie Greenwood, parents, Tom and Helen Dellwo and her siblings Jim (Anita) Dellwo, Bob (Helen) Dellwo, Margaret (Bob) Olson, Connie Kuster, Gordon (Frances) Dellwo and sister-in-law Anne Dellwo.
Her Granddaughter Annie wrote something about Netta that summed up her life for us and we thought it described her perfectly. “Grandma “Netta” went to the angels last night, which is fitting because she lived her life on earth being nothing short of angelic. I’ve never met a better human on the Earth, and she will be sorely missed. I will do my best to live in her light, although I will never be able to measure up. There is a big hole in all of our hearts today.”
