About Frontier Funeral Home

Serving Choteau, Montana & Teton County

Our History Of Service Frontier Funeral Home, which holds a special place in the hearts of many in Choteau, has a rich history dating back to 1929. The business was founded by Charles Roberts, who operated it until his passing in 1939. G.L. "Larry" Banks took over the funeral home, operating it from its original location until 1958 when he constructed a new facility that still stands to this day. After Banks' tragic passing in 1979, Homer Gorder assumed ownership and renamed it the Gorder Funeral Home.

The Loewen Group, Inc. later acquired the business in 1992 but decided to maintain the original name. Throughout the early 1990s until 1996, the funeral home had several funeral directors on staff until John Jensen, a seasoned veteran of the industry, was employed to operate the funeral home. In July of 2010, the funeral home returned to local ownership with the sale to John and Ruth Jensen, who had been managing the funeral home since 1996.

Unexpectantly, John passed away in 2016, leaving behind his loving wife and two daughters. Ruth and her daughter, Jessica, had been managing the funeral home with the expert assistance of Gary Croxford, a semi-retired lifetime member of the National Funeral Directors Association, until March of 2023. The honor of serving the Choteau community was passed to Joshua Belanger who understands that each family's situation is unique, and strives to provide personalized support to every family he serves. Taking the time to listen to their needs and concerns, he works closely with them to create a meaningful and respectful funeral service that honors their loved one's life.
